Turner Construction Company in Cincinnati, OH is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to oversee weekly and biweekly payroll processing, including off-cycle payrolls and postings. This role focuses on data tracking, analysis, troubleshooting, and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will validate payroll checklists, authorize payments, report union contributions, and conduct audits while coordinating with HR, Benefits, and Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, and 3 years of related experience; CPP preferred
• Experience in international/Canadian environment preferred
• Excellent knowledge of GAAP for timely, accurate reporting
• Understand accounting implications of contract terms (billable/non-billable)
• Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel; working knowledge of MS Access
• Self-starter with minimal supervision in a changing environment
• Strong communication and teamwork; professional written and verbal skills

Responsabilités

• Manage process to validate payroll checklists to ensure all processes are completed
• Authorize positive pay files for payroll checks issued, ACH files daily, and initiate stop payment requests
• Verify reporting of contributions to Union Pension and Health plans
• Conduct scheduled and Ad Hoc payroll audits on processes and data to ensure data integrity and compliance with company policy and legal requirements
• This includes union audits, claims reporting, address setup audits, and international tax and VISA setups
• Main point of contact for business units and auditors; coordinate payroll document requests
• Analyze and extract Union pay scale table data from collective bargaining agreements for current accuracy
• Review all weekly, bi-weekly and month-end payroll postings and maintain database for completion
• Maintain activity rates for trade employees with upload template
• Take active role as trainer and mentor
• Coordinate with HR, Benefits, and Compensation to ensure policy compliance
• Facilitate cross-functional testing and validation for system bug fixes
• Prepare and verify payroll metrics monthly; report off-cycle payrolls, late timesheets, retroactive payrolls
• Present recommendations to Payroll Managers for resolutions and process improvements
• Research, resolve and respond to issues with payroll postings
• Analyze payroll balance sheet and bank reconciliations; correct reconciliation items
• Prepare and deliver training to Payroll group
• Other duties as assigned
