Job summary

Kforce is partnering with a company in the Saint Louis, MO area to hire a Senior Payroll Administrator. This role focuses on timely multi-state payroll processing, regulatory compliance, and supporting a growing accounting team.

You will handle bi-weekly payroll, audits, reconciliations, and collaboration with HR, Benefits, and vendors. Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and advanced Excel is required; CPP or related degree preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, tax compliance, garnishments, and best practices.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar enterprise payroll systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • CPP certification and/or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Review and audit payroll data, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and updates.
  • Maintain payroll records and resolve discrepancies and inquiries.
  • Manage payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, transfers, and status changes.
  • Support reconciliations, tax reporting, audits, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities.
  • Partner with HR, Accounting, Benefits, Operations, and vendors to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Assist with payroll process improvements, documentation, automation initiatives, and system enhancements.
  • Stay current on payroll regulations and internal controls.
  • Provide guidance and training to payroll team members.

Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced payroll professional to join a growing Accounting team. This role is responsible for processing accurate and timely multi-state payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The ideal candidate has extensive payroll experience, enjoys solving complex payroll issues, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and customer service are top priorities.

  • Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees while ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations
  • Review and audit payroll data, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and employee updates

Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent payroll experience
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, tax compliance, garnishments, and payroll best practices
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar enterprise payroll systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • CPP certification and/or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business, or related field preferred
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations, audits, internal controls, system implementations, or process improvements preferred

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

  • Salaried personnel receive paid time off.
  • Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
