Salt Lake City Corporation seeks a Payroll And Accounting Manager to oversee all payroll operations, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and maintain accurate, timely employee paychecks. You will supervise payroll staff, coordinate with HR, auditors, and finance, and guide improvements in payroll processes and internal controls.

This role also handles tax filings, W-2 reporting, and benefits processing while collaborating across departments to support city-wide

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 4 years payroll experience.
• Proficiency in accounting, budgetary requirements, IRS regulations, and Utah Retirement System compliance.
• Knowledge of payroll systems, accounting databases, and proficiency in Excel spreadsheets.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, city employees, auditors and contractors.
• Knowledge of federal, state, local payroll tax laws and regulations.
• Advanced knowledge and experience with IRS Form 941 and related payroll tax deposits.

• Supervises payroll staff and supports HR on recruitment, discipline, and performance.
• Leads implementation, evaluation, and interpretation of department policies and timekeeping systems.
• Responds to information requests and resolves complex payroll problems.
• Leads testing of payroll scenarios within the ERP system.
• Provides input into new deduction and benefit pay codes and ensures timely W-2 reporting.
• Reconciles payroll-related accounts and maintains compliance with internal controls.
