Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Payments Risk Engineering team to design and build scalable risk services, protecting hosts, guests, and the platform from fraud and ensuring high availability in a real-time environment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including data science, product, and operations to evolve risk capabilities, monitor systems, and deliver end-to-end risk solutions for a global payments platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience in Payments/Fintech.
• Strong API design and data pipeline experience.
• Experience with fraud/spam detection in payments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a service-oriented, observable risk platform.
• Collaborate with data scientists and product managers to address fraud risk.
• Integrate with third-party vendors and payment processors.
• Develop risk detection and mitigation strategies.
• Focus on monitoring and observability of risk systems.
• Work with other Airbnb teams to improve engineering processes.
