Job summary

Gusto is seeking seasoned software engineers to join teams enhancing core platform capabilities and building the future of Gusto's Payments platform. You will guide projects end-to-end, drive large architectural decisions, and maintain code powering core experiences across our growing ecosystem.

You will work on scalable, modular systems with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React, collaborating with product, design, data, and operations while mentoring peers to deliver robust, production-ready

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building fault-tolerant, mission-critical software and distributed systems.
• Experience guiding multiple teams on scaling and refactoring of legacy products.
• Ability to architect, build, test large-scale production code that is maintainable and well-documented.
• Aptitude for simplifying complex problems and communicating tradeoffs clearly.
• Experience in Payments and/or Accounting systems preferred.
• Bonus: Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test the infrastructure that enables Payments, Risk, and experience teams to deliver tailored experiences across products.
• Help scale one of the largest Ruby/Rails and TypeScript/React applications in the world.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Design, Data Science, Operations and other teams on complex problems.
• Build the software platform powering multiple products and serving millions of businesses.
• Mentor and grow fellow engineers to create scalable solutions.
