Job summary

Revley is looking for a Payments Engineer to own the payment rails at the heart of our platform. This independent contractor role offers the potential to convert to full-time, with collaboration directly alongside the founders and a small senior team on systems moving real money for customers daily.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production systems end-to-end.
• Strong backend engineering with Node.js and TypeScript (NestJS or similar).
• Experience integrating payment processors such as Stripe or Adyen.
• Knowledge of tokenization, vaulting, and PCI compliance principles.
• Experience with multi-PSP routing/orchestration architectures.
• Knowledge of CIT/MIT transaction flows, authorization, captures, and webhooks.
• Proficient in SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Ability to work independently in early-stage environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and ship multi-PSP payment routing across nine or more processors.
• Build tokenization flows and processor-agnostic token storage at PCI Level 1.
• Design and implement subscription billing logic with CIT/MIT flows.
• Build webhook consumers for asynchronous processor events.
• Design retry, dunning, and reconciliation flows to maximize approvals.
• Develop checkout experiences supporting cards and wallets like Apple Pay/Google Pay/PayPal.
• Integrate with Shopify Admin & Storefront APIs for orders and merchant onboarding.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
