Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Payment Tech Development Manager to lead end-to-end design, development, testing, and delivery of payment technologies including card and mobile solutions. The role emphasizes functional and security requirements, test planning, and risk mitigation.

You will manage vendor relationships and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to ensure compliant, scalable product rollouts and rapid issue resolution across global payment standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
• At least 5 years of payment technology R&D experience.
• At least 2 years of experience partnering with internal or external business clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of payment technologies for both card acceptance devices and payment devices (including contact/contactless chips, mobile, and cloud-based payments).
• Define product technology specifications with focus on functional and security features.
• Create testing requirements, test plans, and procedures for new payment technology products.
• Advise on certification requirements and compliance programs to ensure standardized rollouts.
• Manage relationships with external vendors including card/chip manufacturers, test labs, and mobile app developers.
