Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Project Manager to lead the Card Payments Well Managed Team. You will deliver a highly regulated customer experience, work with product, risk, and data teams, and drive end-to-end control strategies across enterprise payments infrastructure.

You will oversee lifecycle management, solve complex problems, and partner with risk, compliance, and technology teams to ensure compliant and efficient operations. Strong communication and strategic planning are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
• 3+ years of experience in Project Management or Process Management.
• At least 1 year of experience in Risk Controls or Auditing.
• At least 1 year of experience working with analytical, data management, or software engineering teams.
• At least 1 year of experience with Excel or Google Sheets.
• Preferred: Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or MBA.
• 1+ years of experience in Strategic Planning.
• 3+ years of Financial Services industry experience.
• 3+ years of regulatory compliance or credit experience.
• 2+ years of Technology Project Delivery experience.
• 2+ years experience supporting, partnering, or interacting with internal business clients.
• 1+ years of experience using Snowflake or Databricks.
• 1+ years of Jira experience.
• 1+ years of experience leveraging SQL or Python.
• Process or Project Management certification (Scaled Agile, Lean, PMP, or Six Sigma).
• Strong organizational agility, consulting, collaboration, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the project management lifecycle for control-related initiatives, ensuring timely execution and quality.
• Solving complex problems and advising on new capabilities with payments domain expertise.
• Building and managing payments-related processes and controls for daily operations.
• Driving the implementation of preventive controls to minimize risk events and improve efficiency.
• Partnering with Risk Management to identify, assess, and mitigate data-related risks.
• Collaborating with Product Management and Technology teams to embed controls in new and existing payment features.
• Influencing management with clear insights and recommendations.
