Job summary

Advocate Health in Milwaukee is seeking a patient safety leader to drive the site’s safety culture and reliability initiatives. You will oversee the High Reliability Unit, train safety coaches, and lead projects to address local safety concerns while maintaining a sustainment program.

You will collaborate with clinical and non-clinical leaders, present to executive teams on safety events, and ensure investigations use root cause analysis.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in clinical care delivery, nursing or related health field.
• At least 2 years of experience in safety, quality, or risk management.
• CPPS certification within 12 months unless exempt by department leadership.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates implementation of site’s patient safety program with leadership and frontline tools.
• Leads the High Reliability Unit program, training safety coaches and launching projects.
• Coordinates safety efforts across site departments to align with the safety plan.
• Communicates regularly with site executives on safety events and program status.
• Ensures timely investigation of serious safety events using root cause analysis.
• Oversees corrective actions to reduce risk with system-wide implications.
• Participates in recruitment and development of patient safety team members.
• Reviews daily safety event data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborates with clinical education leaders to support CLER compliance.
• Provides education on safety and reliability to staff at all levels
