Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Knowledge of managed care preferred.
• Ability to operate 10-key calculator by touch and standard office equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and good math knowledge required.
• Some college preferred.
• Three+ years of experience in a health care organization.
• ICD9 and CPT coding (advanced skills) preferred.
• Experience with charge posting or collections preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, instruct, direct and schedule patients and visitors.
• Verify insurance benefits and assist with referrals.
• Collect payments and prepare cash for deposits.
• Maintain flow of patient check-in and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Answer phones, take messages and assist with inquiries.
• Schedule appointments per physician guidelines.
• Perform front-end duties, denials, and correct errors for clean claims.
• Screen visitors and respond to routine information requests.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
• Support CHRISTUS Service Guarantee and align with CHRISTUS Mission.
