Reynolds American in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks a Senior Counsel, Patents to manage the patent portfolio and oversee litigation and enforcement across the Reynolds American Group. This role partners with R&D, Marketing and Regulatory teams to protect innovations and drive business strategy.

The successful candidate will have a JD, at least five years in U.S. patent prosecution or litigation, and an understanding of global IP practice, including USPTO and ITC proceedings.

Formación

• At least five years of U.S. patent prosecution or patent litigation experience in a large law firm, boutique or in-house setting.
• Broad patent law experience including global prosecution, portfolio management, freedom-to-operate analysis, and due diligence.
• Proven ability to advise business leaders and engage senior stakeholders on key patent issues.
• Registered to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; JD required.

Responsabilidades

• Partner with R&D to identify patentable inventions and shape filing strategies.
• Lead strategic prosecution and management of the patent portfolio across Reynolds American Group.
• Lead freedom-to-operate reviews for new products and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Develop and execute opposition strategies before the EPO to protect innovations and claims.
• Advise on IP due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and support litigation and ITC matters.
