Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Thermal Engineer to own the design and integration of passive thermal assemblies for the MK1 Lunar Lander within the Lunar Permanence unit.

You will collaborate with multiple disciplines to mature module and vehicle designs and ensure thermal performance through analysis and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent on-the-job experience in spacecraft design.
• 8 years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
• Expertise in thermal design fundamentals.
• Demonstrated experience building and testing thermal hardware.
• Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process.
• Ability to earn trust and maintain professional relationships.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop module and vehicle level passive thermal assemblies from conception through development and flight operations.
• Support internal or external development of passive thermal components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline product teams to mature designs.
• Work with thermal analysis group to assess performance.
• Produce component specs, test plans, reports and test execution reports.
• Develop short- and long-term development plans.
• Make make-vs-buy decisions for thermal components.

NASA recently selected Blue Origin to fly 2 more MK1 landers to deliver Lunar Terrain Vehicles.In this position you will be responsible for passive thermal control components and systems for the MK1 Lunar Lander from conception through integration with the vehicle.
