Tensor in San Jose, CA seeks an experienced safety engineer to drive regulatory analysis and compliance for passive safety products and restraint systems. You will guide design, calibration, and supplier engagement to meet California standards and vehicle program goals.

Responsibilities include defining testing protocols, validating components, and ensuring regulatory alignment across multiple vehicle models, with strong focus on quality and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of work experience with expertise in automotive safety regulations and certification processes.
• Experience in the development of more than two vehicle models.
• Thorough knowledge of passive safety products and restraint systems laws and regulations.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Prior work experience with a major automaker.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and apply regulations for passive safety products and calibration, guiding design and supplier requirements.
• Design and oversee the development and execution of testing protocols for passive safety systems.
• Manage validation and optimization of restraint system components to ensure compliance and performance targets.
• Plan passive safety products, obtain approvals, and perform risk assessments.
• Analyze impact of passive safety systems on the vehicle 3D model to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Define quality objectives for safety components and control requirements.
• Conduct research on EV passive safety trends and related materials/process developments.
