Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory seeks a Senior, Part-Time Fiber-Optic Applications Research and Development Engineer to advance optical system development and manufacturing technologies. The role is based at ARL with hybrid work options and collaboration with government customers.

Ideal candidates will possess a technical BS and 10+ years managing fiber optic projects, with DoD experience and a strong background in photonics.

Formación

• Requires a technical BS in Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 10 years managing fiber optic & photonic projects.
• Experience working on DoD applications is required.
• Broad understanding of photonic and fiber design for DoD systems.

Responsabilidades

• Perform R&D tasks in fiber-optic applications, including prototype development and testing.
• Communicate results via reports and presentations.
• Lead small-to-moderate fiber-optic projects and engage government customers for funded opportunities.
• Coordinate cross-disciplinary activities and contribute to new proposals.
