The Pennsylvania State University’s Applied Research Laboratory is seeking a Senior, Part-Time Fiber-Optic Applications Research and Development Engineer to advance optical systems and manufacturing technologies for the warfighter. The role is based in Freeport, PA with a hybrid on-site/work-from-home arrangement.

Qualificações

• BS degree in a related field and a minimum of ten years of experience managing fiber optic & photonic projects.
• Experience working on and managing projects for DoD applications.
• Broad understanding of photonic and fiber design options for DoD system applications.
• Security clearance (active secret or higher) preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Perform R&D tasks in fiber-optic applications, including prototype development and testing.
• Coordinate and lead fiber-optic projects of small or moderate size and scope.
• Engage with government customers to identify opportunities and provide solutions.
• Devise plans and lead initiatives addressing complex DoD-related problems.
• Communicate results through reports and presentations.
