Job summary

The City of Compton seeks a lead Parking Control Officer to patrol assigned areas, enforce parking regulations, and issue citations. The role includes assisting in the removal of abandoned vehicles and maintaining logs.

Under the Community Improvement Services Director, you will train officers, coordinate duties, and appear in court to present evidence for disputed citations. Outdoor, shift-work exposure is required.

Qualifications

• Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D equivalent.
• At least five (5) years of responsible work experience at the level of Parking Control Officer for the City of Compton.
• Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of basic laws, rules, ordinances governing parking enforcement.
• Ability to operate a computer terminal and a two-way radio; work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the City in a motor vehicle and enforces parking regulations.
• Issues citations and assists in the removal of abandoned vehicles.
• Maintains activity and citation logs and prepares records and reports.
• Assists in training of Parking Control Officers and school crossing guards.
• Responds to field issues and directs traffic in emergencies.
