Job summary

City of Compton is seeking a Security Officer to patrol city facilities, parks, playgrounds and parking lots to safeguard people and property. The role involves fixed posts, vehicle patrols, and addressing security incidents under supervision of the Security Lead Officer or Community Improvement Services Director.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, two years of security experience, a valid CA driver’s license, and a POSt/BSIS firearms training certificate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two years of experience as a Security Officer are required.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required.
• Certification in Powers of Arrest and Firearms Training (P.O.S.T. 832(a)) or BSIS-comparable certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned area on foot and/or by vehicle.
• Guard posts at city facilities and entrances.
• Check security and safety of buildings, contents and equipment.
• Address hazards, enforce city codes, and report incidents.
• Escort violators off city property and may carry a loaded side arm.
