Job summary

U.S. Department of the Interior – Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve in Louisiana is seeking a Supervisory Park Ranger (Protection) to oversee park law enforcement, security, and visitor protection operations. The role requires leadership in investigations, coordination with multiple agencies, and managing permit processes.

On-call duties, travel and uniform requirements apply. The position requires a Law Enforcement Commission or equivalent, U.S.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Law Enforcement Commission or qualify for Type 1 upon appointment.
• U.S. citizenship and background investigation required; Selective Service where applicable.
• Valid driver's license; pass medical, drug, and fitness tests; uniform and training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, coordinates and executes the park law enforcement program.
• Coordinates with Federal, State, Local and Tribal law enforcement agencies.
• Manages Special Use Permits and Commercial Use Service applications.
