The position directs the park's law enforcement program, coordinates investigations, manages the division budget and special-use permits, and represents the division with outside agencies.

  • Distributes law enforcement funding, prepares the division budget and expends allotted funds as programmed.
  • Manages the application process and authorizations for Special Use Permits and Commercial Use Service.

Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (Protection), in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be offered.

Major Duties

This position serves as the Chief Ranger for Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve, with jurisdictions located throughout Louisiana. The purpose of this position is to provide expertise, guidance, and supervision for law enforcement, security, and resource and visitor protection operations of Jean Lafitte NHP & Preserve, New Orleans Jazz NHP and Cane River National Historical Site. Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Plans, directs, coordinates and executes the park law enforcement program.
