Job summary

The City of Tempe seeks a Park Ranger Supervisor to support and uphold the city’s mission by mentoring Park Rangers, conducting patrols across parks, and enforcing rules to keep facilities safe and welcoming.

You will coordinate outreach, educate patrons on city codes, oversee trail work and safety inspections, and collaborate with Police and Fire departments. This safety-sensitive role requires a valid license, CPR/First Aid, and timely certifications.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience working with the public or related experience.
• Education will not substitute for required work experience; related unpaid/volunteer work may count.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; obtain within six months of hire.
• Hazardous Material Emergency First Responder Awareness (FRA) certification; obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train Park Rangers; liaison with Community Services, Police and Fire departments.
• Patrol parks by foot, vehicle and bike; maintain visible security presence.
• Enforce park rules and issue warnings/citations as needed.
• Educate park patrons about city codes and park amenities; lead ambassador and outreach activities.
• Respond to calls concerning rule violations and other calls for service.
• Oversee trail work, vegetation tasks, and graffiti removal; assist supervisor.
• Conduct playground and other safety inspections; operate radios and equipment.
