Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation seeks a Sr Special Events Specialist to plan, organize, and oversee events in parks and facilities, including processing applications and accounting procedures. The role involves coordinating with vendors, securing permits, and ensuring safety and compliance across day, evening, and weekend events.

Strong emphasis on interdepartmental planning and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience in community-based special events management.
• Experience coordinating movie and/or music licensing.
• Extensive experience managing all aspects of large-scale events.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of special event activities in a recreation center or park facility.
• Develop and lead special event programs and activities.
• Provide customer service and handling of funds for information and program registration.
• Supervise part-time and temporary employees, including scheduling and reviews.
• Assist with budget, contracts and compliance for events.
• Coordinate a wide range of events for a diverse audience.
• Pre-event planning, site visits, and post-event debriefs with vendors and contractors.
• Ensure venue rules and permits are on file prior to events.
