Job summary

Sortation Labs, headquartered in the United States, seeks an experienced technical lead to drive design and development of parcel sortation and material handling systems. You will guide bids from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with customer specs and safety standards.

You will lead drafting in AutoCAD and 3D modeling in Inventor, review designs, and coordinate across internal teams and external partners. Travel to job sites and customer offices is required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks, and BIM.
• Strong knowledge of material handling engineering principles.
• Ability to review and apply detailed customer specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Project).
• Ability to apply independent engineering judgment and cost analysis.
• Ability to produce accurate design packages.
• Detail-oriented and able to balance bids and priorities.
• Strong organizational and cross-discipline coordination.
• Strong communication with customers, vendors, and teams.
• Ability to lead design and estimating efforts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead on bids and projects, ensuring designs align with requirements and standards.
• Design automated parcel sortation and material handling layouts from concept to detailed design.
• Collaborate with internal teams to maintain design consistency and standards.
• Engage with customers to capture site-specific requirements.
• Create and review engineering designs, system calculations, and layouts.
• Develop drawing sets in AutoCAD and 3D models in Inventor for proposals.
• Generate manifests for demolition, modifications, and new equipment.
• Analyze 3D models against point cloud scans for accuracy.
• Produce clash detection reports for field attention needs.
• Coordinate design and estimating across departments and partners.
• Provide technical guidance through planning, installation, and commissioning.
• Contribute to tools, processes, and standards for systems engineering.
