Job summary

Sortation Labs LLC seeks an experienced technical lead to design and develop parcel sortation and material handling systems. You will guide customer bids from concept through execution, ensuring layouts meet site-specific requirements and customer specifications.

You will lead design efforts, create detailed drawings in AutoCAD and Inventor, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver accurate estimates and compliant solutions across multiple sites and projects.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks, and BIM.
• Strong knowledge of material handling mechanical and system-level engineering principles, including equipment, speed, flow rates, and integration of subsystems.
• Ability to review and apply detailed customer specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Project).
• Ability to apply independent engineering judgment, cost analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to produce accurate, high-quality design packages.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of balancing multiple bids and project priorities.
• Strong organizational skills; capable of balancing technical design, estimating, and project coordination responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Ability to lead design and estimating efforts, and coordinate across disciplines to achieve project and proposal goals.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead on bids and projects, ensuring designs align with requirements and standards.
• Design automated parcel sortation and material handling layouts for proposals.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure design consistency with company standards.
• Engage with customers to capture site-specific requirements.
• Create and review detailed engineering designs, system calculations, and layouts.
• Develop drawing sets in AutoCAD and/or 3D models in Inventor for proposals and planning.
• Generate manifests for demolition, modifications, and new equipment.
• Analyze 3D models against point cloud scans for accuracy.
• Produce clash detection reports for field service attention.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to capture technical requirements for estimating and bids.
• Lead design and estimating efforts across disciplines for project goals.
