Job summary

Sortation Labs LLC seeks a technical lead to design and develop parcel sortation and material handling systems. You will guide bids from concept to execution, ensure designs meet customer specs and safety standards, and interface with clients to capture project requirements.

The role requires strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/Inventor/Navisworks/BIM), plus experience in engineering calculations, ROM costing, and cross-functional collaboration across office, jobsite, and vendor locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering fields.
• 2+ years of conveyance, construction, or systems engineering with exposure to cost estimating and proposals.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor) and MS Office applications.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead bids and projects ensuring designs meet requirements, safety regs, and standards.
• Design layouts for parcel sortation and material handling from concept to detail.
• Coordinate with internal teams to maintain design consistency.
• Interface with customers to capture site requirements and constraints.
• Prepare engineering designs, system calculations, and layout drawings.
• Develop ROM costs and equipment lists for early proposals.
• Create drawings and 3D models in AutoCAD and Inventor to support planning.
• Produce demolition/modification manifests for execution.
• Review 3D models against point clouds to verify accuracy.
• Generate clash reports and address field-service issues.
• Coordinate design and estimating across departments and partners.
• Provide technical guidance through planning, installation, and commissioning.
• Help develop and enforce engineering tools, processes, and standards.
• Take on additional engineering/estimating tasks as needed.
