Job summary

Gaston County is seeking an experienced Paramedic capable of supervising EMS responders, directing scene operations, and ensuring adherence to GEMS and NC OEMS standards. The role includes coordinating emergency and non-emergency transport and maintaining unit readiness, with incentives for lateral entry for qualified officers and healthcare staff.

The position requires NC EMT Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic, multiple certifications (ACLS, PHTLS, PALS/PEPP, AMLS, CPR), and a valid

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a valid NC EMT Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic certification.
• Current ACLS, PHTLS, PALS/PEPP, AMLS, and CPR certifications.
• Valid driver's license with 3 or less points on driving record.
• Experience and training in responding and controlling hazardous material incidents.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and technical medical support in the operational readiness of all EMS system responders with lesser certification.
• Coordinate response and transport of emergency and non-emergency patients to medical facilities for the countywide EMS System.
• Direct emergency medical personnel at or below the EMT-Paramedic level in patient care.
• Ensure compliance with GEMS SOPs, Medical Protocols, and NC OEMS Regulations in patient care and transportation.
• Complete Patient Care Reports with accuracy and attached supporting documentation.
• Maintain unit readiness, cleanliness, and stocking at all times.
• In supervisor absence, provide scene direction and EMS Operations coordination or command as needed.
