Gaston County Government’s Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) seeks an EMT Advanced or AEMT with strong scene management and transportation skills. The role includes supervising EMS responders, coordinating patient care, and ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations for countywide EMS operations.
Starting hourly rate is $22.45; candidates should have HazMat experience, PHTLS and CPR, a clean driving record, and the ability to lead in critical incidents.

Candidates selected will undergo a background check. The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
In compliance with G.S.153A-94.2 (b), if the position being filled requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity, the County must require the applicant, if offered the position, to be subject to a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI. These checks must be performed in accordance with G.S.143B-1209.26, which authorizes the SBI to provide fingerprint-based state and national criminal record checks to cities and counties.
Please note: new employees are likely to be scheduled to work night shift upon hire. New employees will have the ability to request ADA accommodations based on need after hire and the ability to participate in an annual shift bid process.
