The role reports to a Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, with interaction across corporate departments. Requires 5+ years of paralegal experience, a ABA-approved paralegal certificate, and strong drafting, research, and case management skills.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking a Sr Paralegal to assist in managing certain litigation and transactional matters, and to assist in the administration and execution of the Business Ethics Program, on behalf of AutoNation, Inc. and its operating subsidiaries (“AutoNation”) using discretion and independent judgment with limited supervision.This role is an onsite position based at our headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.Organizational Relationships:The position will report directly to a Vice President and Assistant General Counsel in the Legal Department, as well as supporting other Vice Presidents in the Legal Department. The position will interact with various corporate departments, operating subsidiaries, government agencies and outside law firms, as appropriate to perform the duties of the position.Job Responsibilities:Responsible for providing paralegal support in connection with the management of certain litigation and presuit matters, including employment litigation, charges of discrimination, agency wage claims, and presuit matters, with limited oversight. This includes reviewing and evaluating pleadings, legal orders, and other legal documents to ensure proper handling, drafting certain legal documents, inputting case information in the Company’s litigation matter management system (currently Legal Tracker), participating in fact finding, coordinating and/or responding to certain discovery requests, tracking case results and costs, corresponding with outside counsel and providing other general case management assistance.Responsible for providing paralegal support on various transactional projects with limited oversight, including assisting in the management of certain operational and legal forms.Responsible for assisting a Vice President with the administration and execution of the Business Ethics Program with limited oversight, including Board of Directors and executive reporting, Code of Business Ethics and Policy development, and online training course development.Responsible for evaluating and ensuring appropriate handling of a variety of other miscellaneous legal matters as they arise and performing other legal duties as assigned.Must demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Company’s Vision, Mission, and Values in all interactions with customers, co-workers, and suppliers and adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and safety standards.Qualifications:Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.Minimum of five (5) years of paralegal experience required, including significant experience supporting litigation matters in a law firm, corporate legal department, or publicly traded company environment.Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved or accredited program required.Strong knowledge of litigation processes, legal documentation, case management, and records administration.Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively across all levels of the organization.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting litigation, compliance, licensing, or corporate governance matters.Prior experience in an in-house legal department or publicly traded company environment.Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.ㅤExciting Benefits and Perks Await You:Competitive compensation and 401k matchingEnjoy a healthy work-life balance with insurance plans (health, dental, vision) and maternity benefits.Associate purchase and discount programs for new and pre-owned vehicles, services, parts, collision, accessories, and AutoGearAccess amazing deals and discounts through YouDecide, a website with offers from top providers and retailersJoin our DRVPNK mission to raise and donate millions of dollars to cancer research and treatment, partnering with cancer charities nationwideAutoNation is one of the largest automotive retailers in the United States, offering innovative products, exceptional services, and comprehensive solutions, empowering our customers to make the best decisions for their needs.
