Unum, headquartered in Chattanooga, TN, seeks a paralegal to provide complex support to attorneys within Corporate Law and Litigation. This role involves research, document management, and coordinating with in-house and outside counsel on discovery and litigation tasks.

Strong communication, analytical skills and the ability to mentor junior staff are essential. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary range in the Chattanooga area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Paralegal certificate plus 3 years paralegal experience or 7 years paralegal experience.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Excellent interpersonal relation skills.
• Excellent word processing, math and research skills.
• Demonstrated independent critical thinking and judgment.
• Demonstrated ability to train/mentor Paralegals and Senior Paralegals.

Responsibilities

• Conducts legal research and complex analysis as assigned.
• Locates information for attorneys and authorities.
• Interviews company employees to develop detailed information.
• Reviews, analyzes, summarizes and organizes documents as needed.
• Prepares draft responses of legal documents.
• Ensures legal documentation is processed in compliance with legal requirements.
• Assists with or leads large projects and workload planning.
• May assist with witness preparation for deposition and trial.
• Interact with all levels of company employees and coordinate with counsel as needed.
• Advanced knowledge of company products and procedures.
