Job summary

General Mills is seeking a Manufacturing Packaging Engineer to lead safety, system optimization, and continuous improvement on the Covington site’s packaging lines. You will drive loss-elimination initiatives, develop team capabilities, and collaborate with Engineering, Operations and ITQ to enable capacity and productivity gains.

The role requires a strong engineering background, 5+ years in manufacturing, and expertise with data-driven decision making and packaging processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience.
• 5+ years of related experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Food science or process/packaging experience and knowledge of manufacturing systems.
• Strong data analysis capabilities and financial acumen for plant decisions.
• Ability to lead, coach and collaborate across engineering, operations and IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety efforts applying Safety 2.0 principles and standards.
• Drive system performance, loss elimination and continuous improvement on packaging lines.
• Coach and develop junior engineers; contribute to content and training materials.
• Own platform systems, perform glidepath planning and financial impact analysis.
• Provide backup support and coordinate with cross-functional partners.
