Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer in Dexter, MI to lead sterile packaging systems across the Cardiac Surgery portfolio. The role supports sustaining and CI activities, ensures regulatory compliance, and partners with manufacturing, QA, and product development teams.

You will design and validate sterile barrier systems, manage changes, and drive cost effectiveness throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 4+ years in packaging/manufacturing/product development engineering.
• Experience in medical device industry or highly regulated environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 11607, ISO13485, Design Control, and medical device quality systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustaining packaging initiatives including design changes, supplier changes, CAPAs, cost reduction, and supply continuity.
• Evaluate changes for impact to packaging configurations and determine testing/validation requirements.
• Design, develop, and maintain sterile barrier systems, packaging components, assemblies, and specs per regulatory standards.
• Plan and execute packaging verification/validation activities with protocols, testing, and documentation.
• Partner with sites to troubleshoot packaging issues and support repackaging operations.
• Support remediation and compliance initiatives, including audits, submissions, and field investigations.
• Assess packaging materials and changes to support quality, manufacturability, cost, and sustainability.
• Act as PM on cross-functional teams to manage deliverables and drive continuous improvements.
