Job summary

MiniMed is seeking an experienced Principal Packaging Engineer to lead medical device packaging for both new products and sustaining programs. You will define product packaging requirements, conduct design and testing to ensure ISO compliance, and support labeling needs while aligning with internal stakeholder needs.

The role emphasizes development of robust packaging solutions, verification/validation plans, and mentoring of the team as manufacturing lines evolve with technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant packaging engineering experience.
• Experience with medical device packaging and ISO regulatory requirements.
• Strong design verification/validation and risk assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine packaging specifications based on product, cost, legal requirements and needed protection.
• Design, develop, and test containers and packaging systems (sterile barrier to pallet loads).
• Design packaging exteriors considering product identification, customer appeal and printing.
• Support GMP documentation and prototype line development; integrate packaging into automated lines.
• Create Design Verification/Validation Plans and Protocols for packaging systems.
• Perform Root Cause analysis for test failures and iterate designs accordingly.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay current with industry trends.
