Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer in California to develop packaging concepts in coordination with finished products and materials. The role requires evaluating product drawings, ensuring compatibility with manufacturing, and assessing safety and material requirements for packaging.

You will collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, sales, and marketing to assess feasibility, costs, and supplier performance, while maintaining packaging specifications and graphics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in consumer goods packaging, preferably food or beverage.
• Advanced knowledge of packaging development flow from concept to launch.
• Creative with proven ability to deliver innovative packaging concepts.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Consumer Research to meet unmet needs.
• Strong knowledge of ASTM/ISTA test methods and BCT vs ECT.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop packaging concepts coordinating with finished products and materials.
• Analyze drawings and specs to evaluate materials and safety needs.
• Assess costs and feasibility of concepts with sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, sales, and marketing.
• Gather and maintain packaging specifications and graphics.
• Provide technical recommendations to reduce supplier risks and costs.
• Support manufacturing during packaging implementation.
• Document engineering protocols and ensure compliance with FDA and ISO.
• Review new tech and prepare designs for integration into process.
• Develop and maintain schedules for packaging supply chain projects.
