Job summary

Universal Shield Insurance Group, a hybrid P&C insurer, seeks an experienced underwriter to manage a sizable renewal book and grow new business. You will analyze risks, price coverage, and collaborate with wholesalers and agents to drive profitable growth.

The role requires five years of Commercial P&C underwriting experience and professional designations (CPCU/CIC) or willingness to pursue them. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• At least five years of Commercial P&C underwriting experience.
• Designations CPCU or CIC, or willingness to complete.
• Strong communication with internal and external contacts.

Responsibilities

• Manage renewal book of ~$7M-$8M and generate ~$1.5M in new business annually.
• Analyze information to accept, price, modify, or reject business within authority.
• Review market conditions to adjust coverage as needed.
• Apply forms, endorsements, and deductibles to mitigate risk.
• Prepare written reports and lead meetings on coverage decisions.
• Develop relationships with wholesalers and agents to provide underwriting guidance.
• Identify growth opportunities within existing/new sources of business.
