Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Technical Director in the Corporate Claims unit to lead a growing book of property and construction defect claims. The role requires extensive P&C claims experience, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and the ability to operate at high authority levels across complex cases.

A CPCU/AIC designation is preferred and cross-training across lines is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in property and casualty claims, including general liability or property claims litigation.
• Construction defect claims experience strongly preferred.
• Pursuit of professional designation (AIC/CPCU) preferred.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages a book of claims including construction defect and property claims of significant size or complexity.
• Conducts thorough investigations, assesses coverage and liability, and formulates strategic claim-resolutions.
• Represents the company in arbitrations, mediations, settlements or trials as needed.
• Negotiates settlements within authority and escalates when beyond personal authority.
• Communicates complex information clearly to stakeholders with professional demeanor.
• Ensures compliance with statutes, regulations, and company policies in claims handling.
• Serves as technical expert on product lines and risks.
• Evaluates issues for executive management on strategic matters.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
