Job summary

Great American Insurance Group in Cincinnati is seeking a highly experienced Claims Technical Director to lead a growing book of property and construction defect claims. The role offers cross-training opportunities in other lines, including Ocean Marine and Aviation, and requires licensing in required states.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in P&C claims, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and progress toward CPCU/AIC designations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in property and casualty claims including general liability or property claims litigation.
• Construction defect claims experience strongly preferred.
• Completion of or progress toward a professional designation such as AIC or CPCU is preferred.
• Extensive technical knowledge in both product and industry, with ability to operate at high authority on complex matters.

Responsibilities

• Manages a book of claims, including construction defect and property claims, with significant size and/or complexity.
• Conducts thorough investigations, assesses coverage and liability, and formulates strategic approaches to claim resolution.
• Works toward resolution of claims files and attends arbitrations, mediations, settlement conferences or trials as needed.
• Negotiates settlements within prescribed authority and escalates cases to supervisors when necessary.
• Conveys highly complex information to all parties in a professional manner.
• Ensures claims handling complies with statutes, regulations, and company procedures.
• Serves as the technical expert on one or more products.
• Evaluates and makes recommendations to executive management on strategic issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
