Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a senior Claims Technical Director in the Corporate Claims unit. The role focuses on a growing book of property and construction defect claims, with potential involvement in Ocean Marine and Aviation.

The candidate must be a self-starter, willing to cross-train, and capable of obtaining adjuster licenses across states. On-site expectations for Cincinnati-based candidates include four days per week in the office with one remote day; remote work options

Qualifications

• Requires 10+ years of experience in property and casualty claims including general liability or property claims litigation.
• Professional designation such as AIC or CPCU is preferred.
• Operates at the highest authority level on complex assignments with extensive technical knowledge.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages a book of claims, including construction defect and property claims, involving significant size and/or complexity.
• Conducts thorough investigations, assesses coverage and liability, and formulates strategy for claim resolution.
• Works toward resolution of claims files and participates in arbitrations, mediations, settlements, or trials as necessary.
• Negotiates settlements within authority and escalates cases beyond personal authority.
• Communicates complex information to all parties professionally and clearly.
• Ensures claims handling complies with applicable laws, regulations, and company procedures.
• Serves as the technical expert on one or more products.
• Evaluates issues of strategic importance and provides recommendations to executive management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
