Job summary

Special Districts Association of Oregon is seeking a Sr. Claims Consultant to join our Property and Casualty team on a full-time basis. The role involves handling a broad spectrum of claims, from investigation to negotiation, including settlements up to $100,000 with escalation as needed.

The position requires a strong client-relations mindset, excellent communication, and at least five years of full-cycle claims experience. Occasional travel within Oregon is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years of experience handling full cycle insurance claims.
• Must have current and valid driver’s license to drive to member locations; or equivalent.
• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and handle a wide variety and complexity of property and casualty claims (factual and legal).
• Estimate costs for litigating a claim and participate in litigation meetings.
• Negotiate settlements within authority up to $100,000 with escalation to PC Claims Manager beyond that amount.
• Ensure reserves are accurately set and reported; maintain timely client communication and service.
• Develop and maintain excellent client relationships with timely, accurate information.
• Travel within the state of Oregon for business purposes as required.
• Provide leadership to less experienced claim consultants and perform other duties as assigned.
