Job summary

Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in Ocoee seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to support outpatient orthopedic care under physician supervision, with a high degree of independence in medical decision-making.

The APP will diagnose, treat, prescribe, and consult on patient cases, perform complex exams, coordinate perioperative planning, and educate patients while ensuring compliance with healthcare policies and standards.

Qualifications

• MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing.
• Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.
• APRN license in the state of Florida.
• National advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board.
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Three years of Advanced Practice Provider experience.

Responsibilities

• Acts as advanced resource for specialty area or lead worker in clinic setting.
• Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
• Operates with the highest degree of independence in provision of patient care services with minimal physician supervision and generally in a highly specialized area.
• Assists in providing care for patients receiving radiation treatments; writes appropriate orders, including those for perioperative orders, narcotics, stimulants, and depressant drugs.
• Performs detailed history and physical examinations and documents inpatient H & P, discharge summaries in the medical record.
• Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate implementation of therapeutic plans, consistent with healthcare needs of the patient
• Reviews medical records of patients of the supervising medical staff member.
• Performs routine patient rounds to monitor and evaluate clinical status; reports change in status to supervising medical staff member for management.
• Notifies attending physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
• Dispenses/prescribes medication as authorized by supervising medical staff member.
• Writes or dictates reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record
• Scrubs with supervising surgeon in operating room.
• Removes catheters, drains, sutures, and staples.
