Job summary

dbt Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Orchestration team, owning the control plane of the dbt platform. This fully remote role focuses on high-throughput APIs, data models, and scalable solutions across the data stack.

You will design, implement, review, and optimize features end-to-end, collaborating with product and QE to deliver reliable, high-performance software. Strong emphasis on AI tooling and modern backend tech.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering with backend focus.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud concepts.
• Ability to deliver well-structured, tested code.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features for the Metadata services across APIs and data models.
• Develop, maintain, test, and optimize code for performance.
• Review designs and PRs, provide constructive feedback.
• Improve test coverage and reduce tech debt.
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call rotations.
