Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Oracle Payroll Integrations Developer based in the United States.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Oracle Payroll Integrations Developer to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable integrations across complex payroll ecosystems. In this remote role, you will leverage deep Oracle Payroll expertise to connect HR, benefits, finance, banking, tax, and time management systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring payroll data accuracy, system performance, regulatory compliance, and reliable processing during high‑volume payroll cycles. Working closely with cross‑functional teams across multiple time zones, you will build robust data pipelines and optimize integrations that support essential business operations. Your technical expertise will help strengthen data integrity, automate complex workflows, and improve the reliability of payroll processing. This opportunity is ideal for a hands‑on technical specialist who enjoys solving challenging integration problems and contributing to enterprise‑level technology initiatives.

Accountabilities
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain payroll integrations between Oracle HCM Cloud or Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and internal or external systems, including HRIS, benefits platforms, finance and ERP systems, time and attendance solutions, tax filing providers, and banking services.
  • Analyze, query, and optimize Oracle Payroll data structures and underlying tables and schemas, including PAY* and PY* table families, to ensure data accuracy, referential integrity, and auditability across payroll results, costing, balances, and retroactive adjustments.
  • Develop clean, scalable, and high-performance code using advanced SQL, PL/SQL, and, where appropriate, Java, JavaScript, or Python to support data transformations, validation, file processing, and API orchestration.
  • Build and maintain payroll interfaces using Oracle HCM Extracts, HCM Data Loader (HDL), Fast Formulas, BI Publisher, and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) or comparable middleware platforms such as MuleSoft and Boomi.
  • Implement and maintain REST and SOAP APIs, SFTP and file-based integrations, webhooks, and event-driven data pipelines, ensuring secure connectivity and appropriate authentication mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0, certificates, and encryption keys.
  • Optimize queries, integration jobs, batch processing, and data handling strategies to support high-volume payroll cycles, meet payroll deadlines, and improve system performance and scalability.
  • Implement robust error-handling, retry, reconciliation, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure reliable data processing and rapid resolution of integration failures.
  • Establish automated unit and integration testing procedures, reconcile integration outputs against payroll results and general ledger postings, and maintain data quality throughout the payroll lifecycle.
  • Enforce security, privacy, and compliance requirements, including segregation of duties, protection of personally identifiable information (PII), and relevant SOX and ISO controls.
  • Implement observability practices through logging, metrics, alerts, and dashboards using tools such as Splunk, ELK, or OCI Monitoring to track service-level agreements (SLAs) and payroll cut-off readiness.
  • Produce and maintain technical specifications, sequence diagrams, data dictionaries, mapping documents, and operational runbooks while promoting coding standards, version control, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Collaborate with Payroll Operations, HRIS, Finance, Security, and other stakeholders to align integration solutions with business requirements and operational priorities.
  • Mentor junior developers, participate in code reviews and technical design sessions, and contribute to continuous improvement across the integration development lifecycle.
Requirements
  • 7–10 or more years of hands‑on experience designing, developing, and maintaining Oracle Payroll integrations in enterprise environments.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of Oracle Payroll data structures and underlying schemas, including payroll results, costing, balances, elements, run actions, retroactive processing, and year-end reporting, with demonstrated proficiency querying PAY* and PY* table families.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, including packages, procedures, functions, bulk operations, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Strong experience with Oracle HCM Extracts, HCM Data Loader (HDL), Fast Formulas for Payroll, Compensation, or Absence, and BI Publisher.
  • Proven experience delivering integrations through Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) or comparable middleware platforms, with a strong understanding of enterprise integration architecture.
  • Demonstrated expertise in REST and SOAP APIs, secure file transfers, SFTP pipelines, and reliable data exchange between enterprise applications.
  • Experience implementing secure integration patterns, authentication protocols, certificate management, and secrets management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, automated testing frameworks, and software development best practices.
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements, including taxation, garnishments, retroactive adjustments, audit procedures, financial controls, and data privacy.
  • Knowledge of SOX and relevant security standards, with the ability to design integrations that support auditability, access controls, and protection of sensitive employee information.
  • Experience integrating payroll systems with banking platforms, tax filing providers, general ledger and ERP systems, and benefits carriers.
  • Understanding of GDPR requirements and the complexities of global payroll, including multi-country payroll processes and regulatory variations, is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams in a distributed remote environment.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and deliver reliable solutions within strict payroll processing schedules.
  • Willingness to participate in occasional client-site visits when required.
