Job summary

SDA, Systems Development and Analysis, Inc. in Ashburn, VA, is seeking a Database Administrator to support a federal modernization effort.

The production Oracle estate will migrate to cloud PostgreSQL and Databricks for analytics, while you keep the Oracle systems healthy and plan the data cutover. The ideal candidate is exceptionally strong with data, with deep Oracle experience and exposure to PostgreSQL and Databricks.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on DBA experience in production environments (Senior level).
• Deep Oracle administration experience including backup/recovery and high availability.
• Experience migrating data to PostgreSQL and cloud analytics platforms is highly valued.
• Strong SQL, PL/SQL skills, and ability to read execution plans.
• Familiarity with federal security controls and compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer production Oracle databases (19c+): install, patch, upgrade.
• Own backup/recovery, design and test restore procedures.
• Plan migrations from Oracle to managed cloud PostgreSQL; ensure data integrity.
• Tune performance, implement HA/DR, and manage capacity planning.
• Develop runbooks and support audit artifacts for ATO/compliance.
• Collaborate with data engineering on ingestion and data modeling.
