Job summary

Oracle in Seattle seeks a Senior Database Engineer to lead engineering and operations for large-scale Oracle database fleets. You will drive 19c performance tuning, design robust architectures, andImplement automation with Python or Shell scripts while guiding incident response and reliability improvements.

Responsibilities span upgrades, capacity planning, and cross-team collaboration to deliver resilient cloud services. Excellent English communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6–8 years of Oracle DB engineering/ SRE experience.
• Deep Oracle 19c expertise including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, and SQL tuning.
• Strong Python and Shell scripting for automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and operational management for highly available, large-scale Oracle database fleets.
• Drive Oracle 19c performance analysis, complex tuning, diagnostics, and reliability improvements.
• Design and implement database architecture, access methods, allocation strategies, validation controls, protection, and security standards.
• Build scalable fleet-management automation and tooling using Python and/or Shell scripting.
• Lead technical analysis for database upgrades, patches, enhancements, and architectural changes.
• Define long-range database capacity, availability, and operational requirements with OCI service owners.
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and prevention initiatives for complex production issues.
• Mentor engineers, review designs and code, and establish operational best practices and runbooks.
• Collaborate with Compute, Storage, Networking, Governance, and other OCI teams to deliver resilient cloud services.
