Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team. The role supports surgeons and other professionals by preparing patients, rooms, and equipment for procedures and by actively assisting during operations as part of the surgical team.

You will ensure sterile technique, maintain the sterile field, and help with patient positioning, prepping skin, and post-operative cleanup. The schedule is full-time with evening shifts and on-call expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology training program.
• Certification as a surgical technologist (NBSTSA).
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• One month of job-related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating rooms, ensuring equipment and supplies are disinfected, assembled and functional.
• Maintains sterile field and prepares patient skin for surgery; positions patient and monitors vital signs.
• During procedures, assists surgeons by passing sterile instruments and labeling specimens as needed.
• Transports patients when required and ensures rooms are clean and stocked for next case.
• Performs clerical duties and supports administrative staff as needed.
• Delivers compassionate support to patients and families and adheres to HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
