Qualifications

• Bachelor's in mechanical engineering (BSME) or MS with 8+ years in design, hardware, or integrated product development and testing.
• Experience leading interdisciplinary technical projects with strong leadership and communication.
• Proficiency in CAD tools and producing high-quality engineering drawings meeting industry standards.
• Strong skills in material selection, component sizing, system design, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Change Control processes and in-production hardware changes.
• Understanding of thermal and structural analysis; hands-on fabrication experience.
• Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs; machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and 3D printing knowledge.
• Knowledge of industry standards (ASME Y14.5 GD&T) and regulatory requirements; drive projects end-to-end; strong documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from concept generation to real-world use.
• Develop cutting-edge infrared sensors.
• Utilize first principles physics as basis for decisions.
• Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition to production.
• Support hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
• Contribute to the development of new optical systems by assisting in design and implementation efforts.
• Execute in-depth opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical designs.
• Mentor junior engineers, lead small teams, and manage projects/budgets.
• Travel to test sites as needed.
