Job summary

Anduril Industries’ Imaging team is seeking an Optical Engineer to shape design and architecture as we mature a growing product line. You will help transition prototype optical assemblies to fieldable production systems, designing lenses and components for high-performance imaging suitable for ground and airborne applications.

The role requires a strong background in opto-mechanical design, testing, and analysis, with a focus on delivering robust systems and meeting stringent performance

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Physics/Astronomy with optics concentration.
• MS or PhD preferred but not required.
• 5+ years of experience with complex opto-mechanical systems, performing optical design, analysis, alignment and test.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture decisions and optical trades for new optical systems.
• Design lenses and optical components for high performance imaging systems.
• Define optical performance requirements under multi-disciplinary constraints.
• Transition a prototyping optical assembly to production.
• Design and tolerance complex visible to infrared systems for ground and airborne use.
• Develop and review test setups, procedures and data for transition to production.
• Analyze prototype and production system performance errors to identify root causes.
• Collaborate with senior staff to solve interdisciplinary optical challenges.
