Tierra in the United States is seeking an Optimization Engineer to advance our optimization software for day-ahead, intraday, and real-time power markets. You will build models for battery dispatch, integrate forecasts, and translate market observations into better bidding strategies.

You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers, apply robust optimization, and contribute to revenue growth and environmental benefits while adhering to software development best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years in energy industry or related engineering role with production software.
• 3+ years Python and solving LP/MIP/Convex optimization problems.
• Experience with GitHub and collaborative software practices.
• Experience with relational and/or columnar databases and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine optimization models for short-term battery dispatch across US power markets.
• Monitor market prices and rule changes to improve bidding and dispatch strategies.
• Collaborate with data scientists to improve performance and revenue.
• Incorporate probabilistic forecasts and robust optimization into workflows.
• Promote software development best practices: testing, deployment, monitoring.
• Serve as power markets SME for external stakeholders.
• Occasionally work extended hours when needed.
