Tierra is seeking an Optimization Engineer to advance our optimization software across multiple US power markets for short-term opportunities in day-ahead, intraday, and real-time markets. You will focus on battery dispatch, bidding, and revenue optimization while delivering environmental benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in energy industry or related engineering role with production software experience.
• 3+ years of Python and experience with LP/MIP/Convex Optimization for energy assets.
• GitHub collaboration and agile development practices.
• Experience with relational/columnar databases and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine optimization models for short-term battery dispatch in multiple wholesale markets.
• Monitor market prices and rule changes to improve bidding and dispatch strategies.
• Collaborate with data scientists to enhance performance and revenue.
• Improve uncertainty handling with robust/stochastic optimization.
• Explore new optimization methods to boost short-term bidding efficiency.
• Promote software development best practices: testing, deployment, monitoring.
• Serve as power markets SME for external stakeholders.
