Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a motivated Optical Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and production of high-speed optical interconnects for AI and hyperscale datacenters. The role focuses on Co-Packaged Optics, Optical Circuit Switches, and 800G/1.6T modules, requiring solid fiber optics and manufacturing knowledge.

The candidate will work on production floor activities, collaborate with global teams, and travel to manufacturing sites as needed to enable smooth tech transfer and scale-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical/Electrical/Photonic related field; Master’s preferred
• 5+ years of optical/photonic or electronics manufacturing experience for Bachelor’s, or 3+ years with Master’s

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize optical interconnect, transceiver, and photonic manufacturing to improve product yield.
• Test, validate, and troubleshoot photoelectric conversion and fiber-optic systems; ensure signal integrity.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and PM teams and external partners for product development.
• Identify and resolve optical performance, thermal, packaging, and signal integrity issues.
• Scale next-generation optical platforms from development to production.
• Travel to manufacturing sites to support tech transfer and production activities.
