Job summary

Optimax Systems, Inc is seeking a Senior Optical Systems Engineer to lead design and analysis of optical assemblies. The role requires detailed tolerance analysis, designing novel lenses, and presenting results at customer reviews.

Occasional travel to customer sites and conferences is expected. The position is primarily on-site with a 10% travel requirement, and offers a competitive salary range and benefits package.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Optics, Physics, or equivalent
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Optics preferred
• 5-15 years’ experience in lens design using Zemax or Code V (Zemax preferred)
• Image quality metrology experience, e.g. interferometry or MTF testing
• Demonstrated prototype build successes
• Knowledge of imaging and non-imaging optics and their quality metrics
• Knowledge in metrology techniques for optical systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to assess complex issues and develop appropriate solutions
• Ability to collect, interpret, document, and present data
• Ability to work and contribute in a team setting

Responsibilities

• Lead or support projects as a technical point of contact for customers
• Facilitate cross-functional teams to plan workflow, adhering to customer-established timelines while meeting real cost and delivery requirements
• Develop test documentation for internal use and compose test plans that meet customer requirements
• Help multi-discipline teams solve complex problems, and report results verbally and in writing
• Prepare customer facing design review material and present findings in large group review settings
• Lead or support testing of prototype lenses and transition to volume production
• Perform other duties as assigned
