Job summary

Molex is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team focused on fiber optic interconnect solutions for data centers and hyperscale markets. You will lead product development from concept through design, testing, and industrialization, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

You will conduct simulations, prototypes, and tests, collaborating with manufacturing and cross-functional teams while drafting patent applications as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of technical experience in new product development.
• Familiar with FEA and GD&T; knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as injection molding, sheet metal forming, machining.

Responsibilities

• Lead new product design from Concept through Design, Development, Testing, and Industrialization.
• Conduct simulations, prototyping and testing of optical interconnect solutions and systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-competitive (DFM/DFA).
• Collaborate directly with patent attorneys to draft/review patent applications.
• Interface with cross-functional teams across product/project management, manufacturing, procurement and quality.
• Gain understanding of fiber optic products and test methods for new projects.
